Every year, you struggle to find things other than candy to put into your children’s Easter Gift Packs baskets if you’re like me. It’s not just the basket, but those little eggs that kids love opening so much that there is a YouTube channel dedicated to videos showing a guy opening them. Does YouTube have a video series called “Egg Surprises”? You’re lucky!

At 7 a.m., I imagined my kid digging into a basket full of chocolate. I always try to make sure there is a little candy in the basket as possible because it makes me want to take a nap. I am going to do my best to help you out this year. For those baskets this year, here are some great ideas (mostly non-candy).
1. Book basket: everything you need to know. Make use of a backpack or basket. Make a stuffed animal of a character from the books and give them to children. Throw in a few fun-filled eggs for good measure.
2. A little gardener’s basket. This is actually the one I’m doing this year. Pick up a cute little plastic wagon. Fill it with a watering can, gloves, a shovel, and some seed packets. I will fill a few eggs with plastic bugs and marshmallows.
3. This basket is used to combine the beach. Add some sand toys to a beach pail. Sets of this stuff are available at most stores this time of year.
4. The movie basket. Fill a popcorn bucket with movie snacks and a gift card to your favorite theater. Every kid can enjoy it.
5. A basket for playing outside. Bring in bubbles, chalk, hula hoops, jump ropes, basketballs, footballs, horseshoes, and filler candy. I still remember how much I loved that Easter Gift Packs basket. I shouldn’t remember that, I’m old. That was awesome.
6. Put the clothes in the basket. Choose a princess or superhero that your child enjoys and get some dress-up props that relate to them. They just need to be inserted!
7. The make-up basket. That could be a problem for girls of all ages. An adorable little makeup bag, makeup items, nail polish, chapstick, a small pocket mirror, perfume, and a little pocket mirror. You probably have an old Clinique free gift bag under your sink. It’s a good idea.
8. The bath fun basket. Bath fizzes, bath chalk, bath paint, those little capsules with sponges inside, and new fun soap. As much as this sounds like a girl basket, I am sure my boy would love it too.
9. A basket of art. There are new coloring books, crayons, markers, paints, and colored pencils. Plus, they’re making some pretty cool adult coloring books these days. Combined with a new set of markers, this is perfect for older children.
10. The character basket. What is your child’s favorite cartoon? What about a character? Mickey Mouse, Ninja Turtles, Minecraft, My Little Ponies, Shopkins, Paw Patrol. Create a basket based on that character. I can tell you that Target’s Dollar Spot (I LOVE THAT SECTION) has a lot of products based on those characters.
I hope these ideas are helpful to you ladies. If all else fails, fill that sucker with all the leftover Halloween and Christmas candy you still have stashed in your pantry. Who’s gonna find out?
